About the ending:
The story told among the old men illustrates the problem. A warrior is to obey orders. The old man's point of view is that warriors are machines, and those who carry out orders are not held accountable (as is the case with obedience to the Nazis). The male protagonist in the film is already very robotic, but the remaining human nature is awakened by the little life (dog). Then the wheels of humanity turned. At the end, the woman didn't kill the dog, indicating that she also fell into the same problem. After all, people are not machines, they have feelings. Her final outcome is the same as that of the man.
About the title:
The real (killer) master is the old man.
About the last bullet:
The male protagonist gives the female killer a chance to choose human nature.
