When I saw how I felt when I was a child, in kindergarten, when I danced erratically, and when I shook my head vigorously in the primary school chorus, I was criticized. It was a time and feeling that had no human feelings, only discipline. People under discipline can feel fear, powerlessness, no one to protect you, no freedom, and everything is familiar. Even buses, factories, workers’ identities, and styles of clothes can be thought of in China in the early 1990s. This is a dislocation of time. Maybe this is a cultural model, and there are all kinds of factors and seeds there.

Occasionally bright clothes will appear. On the children and some adults, the streets are covered in gray and black, and they look rather dull.
