Are we human at birth complete? I thought not. At birth, humans stand on the side closer to animals between humans and animals. Then each person spends his life finding the boundaries of his own end of being human, and then, trying to get there.
This is the feeling I most want to write after watching this film.
This film has nothing to do with architecture at all. If the director's father was a chef, the film might be called My Chef: Journey to My Father. Those who want to learn about architecture and Kang from this film (such as me who wanted to watch this film two years ago), please go away.
Why did the director do it? Because he wants to reach the boundaries of what he is as a human being. It is obvious that for him, the lack of his father's role has an impact on his life, making him stuck at a certain node and unable to move forward. He must use all available means to break through this impact in order to continue his life. It may not matter what the father is.
The whole film has the feeling of the last century, that is, rough and simple, and there are no polite words between people (except the architect in the last paragraph).
What impresses me most is the politician in charge of municipal construction. After many years, he seems to be an old man. He still believes in his views and criticizes architects without mercy. I like such a person very much. . I think they live simple and strong enough, and they are the objects I want to learn. Another is the captain, who cried as soon as he learned the identity of the director. The back picture in the movie is of his band playing in the sunset at the port. The camera cuts again, and the ship that the architect helped him design is under the stars. Glow, how romantic.
Several women in Kang's life are all beautiful. When it comes to Kang, all of them are affectionate, so affectionate that I want to go back and see what kind of charm this person has. It's incredible to love and hate these geniuses.
The closest scene to the title in the entire film is the director wearing roller skates in his father's most satisfying work. I guess he has actually reached the end he wants to reach at that moment.
