Do you understand Quentin?

I recently revisited several of Quentin's films: Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, and of course, Kill Bill. When I first saw Quentin's film in college, I was told that the so-called violent aesthetics was his trademark. Nor do I deny a bunch of gory and violent scenes of Kill Bill. But apart from Yuan Heping's consistent Hong Kong Kung Fu shots, I really don't see where the aesthetics are. If it is the audience who came to the violent scenes, I think you may be disappointed. His violent scenes have no novelty or beauty at all, but there is a little blood. There are a lot of cult or banned tablets if you're looking for thrills with much heavier flavors.
Speaking of the topic, I think Quentin's best and most distinctive place is the contrast between scenes and lines. It's not that the scene and the lines are in contrast to each other, but they are in contrast to the plot. For example, Quentin likes to have a scene of eating before killing people and setting fires, and generally eats deliciously. This is not only the cold humor of American characteristics, but more importantly, it allows you to experience the horror and cold blood of the upcoming tragedy in a light-hearted conversation. It's like putting salt on a watermelon can bring out the sweetness even more. And usually Quentin likes to make the conversation scenes very long, and the scenes of the real bad things are skipped. This feature brings out another feature of his --- lines. He had to devise at least funny lines to draw in the audience and hold up the whole movie. And it was his lines that gave his films the most distinctive imprint. Sometimes it's a little story, sometimes it's a little lore (mostly), and sometimes it's a little joke (rarely). These small passages are spoken by different characters, and the characters' characters are expressed through language. At the same time, these distinctive language also constitutes an important part of the film.
This is what I saw in Quentin's film logic: drama depends on contrast, contrast depends on lines, and lines are composed of small jokes. These jokes show the characters' personalities while forming the plot themselves. So the Quentin movies you see will attract you, keep you watching, and make you feel funny. But when you finish reading and someone asks you what you said, you won't be able to tell why. Because this is precisely what Quentin is brilliant at, attracting the audience with the plot, but the audience can't tell what the plot is.
So stop putting the label of violent aesthetics on Quentin's head, this is not his selling point. I believe that even if he is asked to make a movie that doesn't shed a drop of blood, he can still make Quentin's characteristics.
