Apartheid films are mostly deep and serious
Like "12 Years a Slave"
"The Help" is indeed based on warmth
The point of view of the film is set in the domestic maid
No bloody whipping torture
Discrimination is reflected in every aspect of life
Black people can only go to black hospitals, black schools can never touch white people, they can't talk back, they can't fight back, they can't even use the same toilet
Black maids raise white children, and the people that white children depended on most in childhood were also housemaids, but when they grew up, they became another person.
"They were angels when they were kids, but they grew up to be exactly like their mothers"
This line impressed me the most
But the atmosphere of the whole film is relaxed rhythm and jumping colors, and the superb acting skills of the bright maid Minnie contributed almost all the laughs in the whole play.
Like the colors of the posters, The Help from a female perspective does bring a touch of color to serious apartheid films.
