From the perspective of roles, the two versions are basically indistinguishable, but the acting styles of the actors are different.
The Swedish version of the hero, Michael Nyqvist, is a typical Nordic man (at least the kind of "Nordic man" I've learned about in the movies), reticent and reticent, introverted to the point of being withdrawn.
What about Daniel Craig's version? Frankly speaking, he continues to perform "without acting skills" in all the films he has made, but does he need acting skills? With David Fincher's superb control over the whole film, he only needs to "play cool" .
Female lead:
As I've written before, Noomi Rapace is the "coolest girl" I've ever seen, and the character is almost a natural fit for her.
What about the American version? Rooney Mara is not only cool (although not as cool as Noomi Rapace), her preciousness is that under the frosty appearance of the heroine, the fragile and helpless heart is fully expressed. To know that she is just a young actress born in 1985, her future is really limitless!
To be fair, there's not much difference between the two versions in terms of storytelling, they seem to use the same script, David Fincher just augmented a lot of the original content that was deleted in the Swedish original, and seriously, this Swedish original This approach has come to the point where people grit their teeth.
That's the whole reason why I think the Hollywood version is significantly better than the Swedish original.
