Asking faith between life and death

Has always had a special interest in the best foreign language films of Oscars.

Counting the best foreign language films I have watched, apart from the four-year-old lover who made me a little disappointed, and eight and a half films put me to sleep twice, there is no best foreign language film that makes me feel vain. It can be said that the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film is the most important award in my mind. It is not more and more commercial like the best Oscar film, publicity is more important than the film, nor is it like the French Palme d’Or. It is not like the Frenchman’s Palme d’Or. It’s a joyous journey in the bright spring and white snow of a literary film, regardless of the audience’s feelings. The best foreign language film at Oscar combines art and business well, which makes people think while not losing the fun of watching movies.

Before watching "Deep Sea Eternal Sleep", I always hoped that "The Cattle Class Spring" would be awarded, although it was not very deep, it moved me very much. When I learned that "Deep Sea Eternal Sleep" won the award, I still felt a little unhappy in my heart. However, after I watched "Deep Sea Eternal Sleep" on the weekend, my original regrets disappeared. This movie should have won an award. If it did not receive an award, it would be worse than the old horse.

The plot of Deep Sea Sleep is actually very simple. It is so simple that there are no ups and downs that are common in domestic TV and movies. It is estimated that Director Zhang and Director Chen will be deeply shocked after watching it. The protagonist of the film, Raymond, was paralysed in a high position by accident. After lying in bed for 26 years, he applied to the government for euthanasia and received widespread attention. Raymond’s choice was supported, criticized, and some people took it for granted to help him regain his vitality, but he resolutely demanded a legal death, and was rejected by the government, but he still realized his wish in his own way. Death and life, this is a very heavy subject. I always thought that such a subject would be dealt with as depressed and heavy as those European literary films that we have long been accustomed to. Without saying a word, the long lens shook and shook endlessly... Therefore, I drank a cup of coffee before watching the movie to prevent myself from falling asleep. It's innocent.

But, unexpectedly, what surprised me was that this was a film full of humor and poetry, full of open-minded and kind self-deprecating, even if it was about life and death, it was a trivial task.

Choosing to die, or choosing to live, has always been a topic of discussion by many people. Some people say that if a person has the courage to face death, why not have the courage to face life? Some people say that a person who gives up his life easily is too irresponsible, completely disregarding family and friends, and has no sense of responsibility. Others say that human life does not belong to oneself, but belongs to God, so one has no right to end his own life. Raymond in the movie said that since I can't choose to live with dignity, I choose to die with dignity. However, for Raymond, life is not a right, but an obligation. He who is incapable of action can only wait, and others will allow him to give up the right to life. This is cruel, but this cruelty is covered in moral and legal cloak, which makes it impossible to refute.

I have always been a staunch liberal, and I have always believed that human dignity and rights are greater than laws and obligations. Life and death is a personal choice, which is beyond the scope of the law. Just as the law cannot stipulate that you must fall in love with someone, or you must not fall in love with someone, a person has the right to choose to live, as well as the right to choose to die. . For those who are clear-thinking and self-willed, no matter what the reason is, they should respond with sympathy and understanding as much as possible, instead of doing too much moral evaluation.

Everyone yearns for a better life. Raymond in the movie has more than once, in dreams, in fantasy, flying out of his window, flying over the valley, flying to the ocean, and touching the beloved woman. His love for life is no less than that of any person, but love for life does not equal happiness. Sometimes, the more he loves life and the more sensitive, the more painful the body's incompetence and freedom are bound to. Life is colorful, this sentence makes sense, but for some people, this sentence is a kind of irony. Zifeiyu, we can’t replace others with our own feelings. It’s actually difficult to empathize. Therefore, what we can do is to understand, try to understand, respect, and respect the choices of others.

Ending our own life may bring pain to our loved ones, but on what basis should we ask a person, a person who thinks that his life has no pleasure and no dignity, continue his pain for others to see his own comfort, a person cannot Build your own happiness on others, but you are also not obligated to build your own happiness than others. This is very contradictory. Perhaps it is a bit selfish to choose death, but selfishness is also a person's right. We cannot deprive others of the most basic rights of life and death, including the use of legal and moral guise. For Raymond, he wanted to end his life, it was only his personal choice. As he himself said, this is just his decision and does not represent other high-level paraplegics. He will not make decisions for other high-level paraplegics. Similarly, don't want others to make decisions for him.

The opposite of Raymond is Julia, a lawyer suffering from cerebral palsy. She also considered death in the face of terminal illness, but her choice is different from Raymond. Raymond is fearless about death. He made a deliberate decision. He believes that death is his own relief and the only way to defend his dignity. But Julia is afraid of death, because she is afraid of death's approaching step by step, she would rather choose to die actively. She wants to escape fear, fear of death and the future. Compared to Raymond, her escape was very unstable, so she finally chose to continue living, although this kind of life would become unrecognizable.

We can't judge whether her choice is courage or cowardice. Choosing to face an increasingly ignorant and powerless life is a kind of tenacious courage or a laissez-faire escape? We can't evaluate and judge Raymond's choice, and similarly, we can't evaluate and judge Julia's choice. Facing the same tragedy, different people will react differently. No matter what decision we make, we can only sympathize and accept. We cannot make evaluations, we have no right to make evaluations. Maybe we will say, if it were me, how would I be, but it is really our turn, maybe we make a choice that we cannot predict.

There may not be a correct answer to this question of life or death. Standing in front of the door of life, gently tapping, if one day the choice is us, what will happen? If life is a grand banquet, after the glory, will everyone need to leave the venue? If it’s not time to exit, but the music that belongs to us suddenly stops; or we, who are dancing, are squeezed to the side without lights and hope by fate, then, besides being strong and brave to continue, is there anyone? , Can choose to exit calmly and with a smile? Perhaps, the people on the stage of life are never the ones who will run away. As long as there is a little hope or possibility, we will strive to change the misfortune and torment. However, if the dance music belonging to a certain person has ceased, and if life has been distorted, I hope that the figure smiling and waving away can still be as cool and calm as the figure when dancing.

Defending the rights of others is actually defending your own rights. While giving applause to others, I will also be encouraged. Regardless of the form and choice, in the face of the splendor and freedom of life, Raymond chose his own way of exiting for himself. Regardless of the mind or body, Raymond realized his love and enthusiasm for life. Happy to live and die, and hope that everyone in the world can respect every life, every moment of life.

The so-called belief in freedom is nothing more than this: respect and responsibly face oneself, life, and life, without cowardice, evasion, fear and disorder. Body and mind are healthy, able to face and bear all choices or possibilities. Only free will developed on this basis can be truly reliable and credible, pure freedom.

So cruel, I cried to death. Freedom without life is not freedom, and life without freedom is not life.
