Breathless in the land of the West

A lot of great movies come into our lives because of great soundtracks, which sometimes trump the plot of the movie itself. "Once Upon A Time In The West" is such a film. When I first watched it six years ago, when the soothing and grand theme song at the end of the film played, Jill looked at the harmonica man with affection, an adult The maturity and affection in the world have turned into each other's silence and staring at each other. I can't tell whether this song is the soundtrack of the movie or the movie is the annotation of the song. You can feel the passage of time and the passage of time. The sound of slipping up and down, letting myself immerse myself in it, soaring through time and space, I know that this song and this movie will mark another moment in my life.

This is a majestic western pioneering history, directed by the Italian western master Sergio Leone (Sergio Leone), showing a soul-stirring western picture. And the magnificent soundtrack of the famous soundtrack master Ennio Morricone (Ennio Morricone) added the icing on the cake to the film.

After the American Revolutionary War, in order to alleviate the population and resource problems in the east, the people in the east started a mighty westward movement, which lasted until the end of the 19th century, which was full of various themes: pioneers, cowboys, the history of blood and tears of the Indians, and the gold rush. Westerns are films based on the American westward movement. From the first American Western in 1903, the Western has experienced its own rise and fall, reaching its peak in the 1950s and 1960s, and then began to decline until Kevin Costner's "With the Wolf" in 1986 "Dancing Together" makes it revive again.

The dry desert, the small town tavern where all kinds of pedestrians stop, the buzzing of flies is near and far, the grass and trees are motionless under the scorching of the sun, there is no trace of life, the cowboy with the boots and guns without a name is listless but nervous. Looking closely at the lifeless but hidden murderous surroundings, an old-fashioned train pierced through the yellow sand in the sky. This is the west. The film tells the story of a visionary Irishman who came to a small town called Sweet Water in Arizona to buy a land with a water source that would become a station in the future, and caused his death. His wife Jill came to this chaotic place and chose to stay. A story of revenge, justice and love that happened here. There are few lines throughout the film, and the plot is driven by the close-up of the characters' faces, eyes and atmosphere.

Jill is beautiful and strong. Even Sheyenne, the boss of the gangster, admits that she is a remarkable woman. She endured humiliation in life. For her, even after being insulted by the villain, it is just a matter of washing down and continuing to live tomorrow. She is the only woman in the murderous arena, implicated in the relationship between the villain, the harmonica man and Sheyenne. Harmonica Man and Sheyenne helped her keep the land and a feud ended.

"Gonna be a beautiful town, Sweet Water", the soothing and high-pitched theme song played at the end of the film, Jill looked at the harmonica man affectionately: "I hope you come back someday."

"Someday" the harmonica man replied.

The harmonica man and Sheyenne left, leaving Jill alone to face the vast yellow sand.

Fortunately, the results are promising.

Western movies are really not my food, but I am only half interested in such classic movies.

Once Upon a Time in the West quotes

  • Cheyenne: [drinking coffee] Good. My mother used to make coffee this way - hot, strong, and good.

  • Jill: [stares at Harmonica from her window] Cheyenne.

    Cheyenne: Huh?

Jill: What's he waiting for out there? What's he doing?

Cheyenne: He's whittling on a piece of wood. I got a feeling, when he stops whittling, something's gonna happen.
