"Death Illusion", released in 2001, is a set of works that movie fans will never forget. Whether you like it or not, you have to deny that this is a set of interpretive and discussing works, which contains the strange parallel universe theory, and also reveals various social problems and dark sides, as well as the whole film. Sentimental nostalgia for the eighties. The film is difficult to locate, and it is one of the most discussed cult films in recent years. Director Richard Kelly has not made many films in the past nine years, only "The Southland Tales" (2006) and "One Million Chain Murders" starring wrestler The Rock.

Although "Death Illusion" is not popular at the box office, it is a work that has been affirmed by film critics. It is a bit like the situation encountered in the classic science fiction film "2020". Most of the audience's attention to Jacques Lunho may be from "Brokeback Mountain" and "After Tomorrow", but in fact, he has already emerged in "Death Illusion", and Richard Kelly's works are also expected by movie fans. Or, "Death Illusion" is an honor and a burden for the director. Two sets of works since "Death Illusion" are still unpopular at the box office, but the film reviews are also surprisingly poor.

"One Million Chain Murders" is adapted from the short story "Button, Button". I haven't read the original work. I dare not say whether the movie is loyal to the novel. However, the film gives the audience the impression that the director still can't get out of the frame of "Death Illusion". It is the interpretation of the proposition, the atmosphere and details of the film are all in the pace of the famous work. Yes, the weirdness of "Death Illusion" shocked the audience, but eight years later, the director not only failed to make any breakthroughs, but was even dragged down the quality of his creation by his famous work.

The proposition of the film is similar to that of "Dead", and the protagonist's decision is related to the destiny of mankind. The film is also quoted from time to time like the "Dead" film. The more memorable one is the famous sci-fi writer Arthur Clark of "2001 A Space Odyssey" "When technology is advanced to a certain level, it will be like magic"; the film uses science fiction themes to run through the whole drama and bring out the theme like the film "Dead"; as for the mysterious character Shi Huochao, it is "Bunny Man". Variations; the most obvious baggage in the film is the sudden "sentiment of the times" in the film. This time the director wants to "remembrance" in the 1970s; finally, the filming, rhythm and visual effects of the film and the "dead" film Almost exactly the same, the setting of the "three gates" had to remind viewers who had watched "Death Illusion" of the "wearing liquid".

For viewers who like "Death Illusion", "One Million Chain Murders" is a set of disappointing works, because in these years the director only gave exactly the same as in the past, the director has gradually changed from full of expectations to disappointment; as for the lack of For viewers who have watched "Death Illusion", this is just a strange set of movies. Perhaps some audiences will have a good impression of the film. After all, "Death Illusion" was also an unpopular movie back then, but the reputation of fans made the movie a set of crowds. "Classic" works, but even those who like "Death Illusion" abandon this film. How can it be possible to "turn over"?

Yes, "Death Illusion" is a work touted by movie fans, but for the majority of the audience, it is still an unfamiliar "classic" movie. Is "One Million Chain Murders" bad? no way. The works that the director has directed so far are not suitable to be screened as mainstream films. If "Death Illusion" were released on a large scale that year, it might not have received such praise. When "One Million Chain Murders" was regarded as a mainstream film, it would naturally not be received. Praise, as for movie fans, because of the director's self-repetition, they will not have a favorable impression of the film.

For the director, "Death Illusion" is a glorious, but also a burden.

Creation should not be burdened. I hope the director's next set of works can get out of this "gloom".
