I choose to live a real and painful life

The whole movie has a cast that I love so much, from Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz, to Cameron Diaz, Tilda Wilton, I love it to death for both looks and acting.

The movie is hazy, from dream to reality, from reality to dream, did David kill Sophia, did Julia die, who Ellie is, and does the psychiatrist really exist? The suspense made me wait until the end of the movie to know.

Let me start with my own understanding of the logic of the plot. David woke up from Julia's bed. The empty dream that morning corresponded to the beginning of the movie. This dream also became one of David's nightmares when he was sleeping in the life extension company, so the psychiatrist explained his dream. . At the birthday party that day, David fell in love at first sight with his friend's girlfriend, Sophia. Spent a night at Sophia's house but the two were not together.

David, who left the next morning, met Julia who had been following him. He couldn't resist the temptation to get into Julia's car. Julia committed suicide and died. David survived but was disfigured, and never recovered. Met his friend and Sophia at the pub. On the night of their separation, the friend told him that it would be fine by tomorrow, and David said that tomorrow he just wanted to commit suicide, suggesting that "After David won back the company in reality, he still felt lonely, really. self-destruction." The reality

It has been his dream since his suicide. During the time when David was at ease, he was unwilling to give up his good life and chose to go to the life extension company to sign an agreement. At that time, he had a successful career and was eager to try, not letting go of all the opportunities that could be challenged. (From the fear of heights, he chose to "wake up by jumping off the building when an accident occurs". It can be seen that he was full of confidence at that time.) So when he could not cope with the pressure of life, he committed suicide and entered the freezing stage .

The dream should be a happy paradise, and the dream should be his fantasy of a good life-a happy life with Sophia, a rich life with friends, and a reconciliation with him regardless of his former suspicion of stealing his girlfriend. Dreams should be places that can be manipulated with their will, and this is where the technician kept reminding him. But he never thought of the guilt and anxiety he felt for Julia when he committed suicide 150 years ago, the loss and loneliness of losing Sophia, and the struggle with the company's covetous people for his rights. The complicated emotions caused him to have nightmares. In the nightmare, he failed to win the lawsuit with his lawyer and fell into the trap of the seven dwarves. He was charged with killing the Sophia he loved and imprisoned. Julia quietly resurrected and hid Sophia, ruining his life and losing the most Dear friend, also lost the person I love, Sophia, and the position I once had. He couldn't tell the difference between reality and dreams, no one in the nightmare wanted to believe him and even Sophia, the only one he could rely on, was killed by himself in a daze.

In short, apart from the car accident and all the sad and terrible things that happened in the pub, it was just a nightmare for David, who was sleeping in the 150s. The reality is that the moment he gets into Julia's car, he decides to pass Sophia. As he told Sophia in his dream, one minute of choice is enough to turn the world upside down.

In the plot as I understand it, both Julia and Sophia are in true love for David, one chooses to die with him and the other weeps at his funeral. For both, David was the one who brought back fond memories and the one who broke their hearts. As for David's true love for Sophia? I would say, not so. Maybe the reason why David chose Sophia in the dream was that he couldn't get Sophia's possessiveness that night; and for Julia, in reality, David just avoided and refused to admit that she was just a fuck buddy in the dream. She was just a ghost who came back to take revenge, and even when Julia pressed her to death, he failed to face the relationship between the two.

Dreams do not have any meaning to predict the future. Dreams are just tools to express the subconscious and the key to release the deepest emotions in the heart. Desire to happen, worry about messing up. Sometimes controllable, sometimes out of control, involuntarily. Loneliness, helplessness, fear, guilt transformed into lifelike characters - Sophia, friend, psychiatrist, Julia...

The glory of the past made him vulnerable, and the smoothness of his childhood only made him think that his life would always rise and fly, but he never thought that life would fall one day. He was only willing to accept the glorious side of life, but not. Willing to take on the responsibilities and hardships that life has given him. In the past life, I chose to escape blindly. Even if there was a vanilla sky in my dream, I lost the chance to fight with the real life because of my cowardice. Choosing to wake up in pain was the last chance David gave himself, and the last time he only hoped that he could face the suffering and live bravely.

Obviously there is love in his heart, but he does things like lard. You are not the only one. We are all defeated in those little things, the more we make mistakes, the more outrageous we are. The ultimate pain is only to be tasted by ourselves. You are my only sustenance and a nightmare that I can't wake up. I lost you when I got on that plane. Sorry.
