This film is the second film of director Jeffrey C. "JC" Chandor. He invited Robert Redford to be the only actor in the film. Just because his first film was screened at the Sundance Film Festival founded by Radford, the two met and agreed on the cooperation of the film.
-
Robert Redford is the only starring role in this movie. There is no dialogue in the whole movie, only a few words of self-talking.
-
Redford suffered a lot from shooting this movie. The first is physical exhaustion, the second is the difficulty of this one-man movie, and the shooting of the sea lens.
-
The film was filmed in mid-2012, and it was filmed at the Baja Studio in Rosarito Beach, Mexico.
-
Although the crew prepared several stand-ins and stuntmen for Radford, Radford still completed most of the dangerous shots himself, with the exception of one underwater shot.
-
Redford's ears were damaged during some tsunami shots. In order to prevent Chen Doer from worrying too much about his health during the filming, Radford did not disclose this until the film was exhibited in Cannes .
