Following the historical details, the film turned them into a John Le Carré-esque spy novel, setting the audience's breath in the old London city landscape.
-"The Hollywood Reporter"
The movie itself may not be as interesting as Emmerich's determination to completely transform and break with the past, but it is also worth watching. Although this is a film written by a screenwriter first-John Orloff's script and the same lines are the most important, but Emmerich’s calm, classic and traditional scheduling method is also amazing, and it matches the film’s rigorous costume setting. It's perfect.
——"Variety Show"
Except for the funny and absurd pleasure, "Anonymous", like its name, proves nothing.
——Time Out New York
Emmerich’s film is a sporadic and occasionally funny botched work, not worthy of the high-quality performance of its actors. The despicable villain played by Hogg oozes cold and rustling.
——"Village Sound"
The exquisitely crafted garbage will make those who don't know William Shakespeare breathe, and those who know William Shakespeare will sneer.

Nice historical conspiracy theory. It's just that literature and drama are mixed with politics. It's not that Shakespeare valued the power of literature and drama, but that this argument made Shakespeare a fool. Unless he is really a powerful person, only the powerful will take these things seriously, just like the film is still strictly guarded. Then again, it seems that the argument is still valid. Costumes, scenes, old London in CG, excellent.

I am worried about the film while watching - the British royal family has not been destroyed, is it made like this? The film is flat overall, but the ending is quite touching.

Ben Jonson: Ruin? Dishonor? My lady, you, your family, even I, even Queen Elizabeth herself will be remembered solely because we had the honor to live whilst your husband put ink to paper.

  • Earl of Oxford: All art is political, Jonson. Otherwise it would just be decoration.
