Michael Faraday (Jeff Matteo Brighi ) is a university history professor who has just lost his wife. He lives with his 10-year-old son Glenn (Spencer Clark Kent ) in the suburbs of Washington, DC. His wife was originally an agent of the FBI . Unfortunately, she lost her life in a duty two years ago. This has been a lingering shadow for the father and son until the vibrant and typical American family of the Lang family moved to them. The situation changed when the house was across the street.
Oliver (Tim Robbins) and Cheryl (Joan Cusack) often invite Michael and Glenn to parties, and Glenn and Lang’s boy Brady ( Roger Mason Gan Bao) ) Also quickly became buddies. As the two families became more and more active, Michael gradually began to doubt Oliver. At first it was only because of some inadvertent lies of Oliver, but more and more. The contradiction made Michael's doubts increase unabated, and he intuitively felt something was wrong with the neighbor on the street.
Michael’s girlfriend Brook ( Hope.Estheim Davis) thinks that all the doubts are just Michael’s neuroticism and jealousy, jealous that the Lang family has the perfect family he has lost, but when Glenn stays at the Lang’s house more time , Michael became more worried and determined to find out. The truth discovered by Michael caused more doubts. Lang's family is definitely not as ordinary as they seem, but who are they? Why do you want to move to Washington? What conspiracy does the family on the street have?
