Barry Levinson, a director who emerged in Hollywood in the 1980s, admired the natural development of the plot, paid attention to the characterization of the characters, can keenly capture the expressive details, and has his own directing style. His "Rain Man" won 8 nominations at the 61st Oscar and finally won 4 Golden Awards including the Best Director Award. The semi-autobiographical work "Avalon" is Levinson's third film. It describes life in Baltimore, where he was born. It spans half a century and talks about the assimilation of family and immigrants. At the 63rd (1991) Oscar, the film was nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Best Photography, Best Costume Design, and Best Music.
