In the German Democratic Republic in 1980, a female doctor named Barbara was planning to emigrate overseas-without a doubt, the country she was going to was the Federal Republic of Germany, which is West Germany. Because of this idea, she was punished more by the local government, and she was "delegated" from the hospital in the capital to a rural health clinic. And her lover, who is far away in West Germany, is helping her plan to leave East Germany from the Baltic Sea. But now Barbara can only wait slowly.
After coming to this small town, Barbara met many new friends and got a new house. But obviously, Barbara's life is not focused on this. Even if the people in the small town are very friendly, this still does not allow Barbara to work here at ease. She deliberately keeps a distance from her new colleagues, because in her heart, her life will not begin until after arriving in West Germany.
