On December 31, 1993, an appalling murder occurred in a dilapidated farmhouse on a highway in southeastern Nebraska. This seemingly inexplicable brutal killing quickly brought the true story of the involved person to the surface. In the months after his murder, Brandon Tiner has become a focal point, frequently appearing in articles by crime documentaries, journalists, and feminists.
After five years of concentrated research and creation, Pierce finally completed the script of "Boys dont cry" . She believes that Brandon's experience is gradually instilling a sense that you can go forward and pursue your dreams. Pierce believes that the story of this film is the same as the real village murders depicted in "In Cold Blood" , "Crazy Holidays" and "The Executioner's Song" , which can evoke people's pure memories of dreams, desires and losses. Although no one knows exactly what happened in Brandon's short life, Pierce obtained a wealth of authentic material through a large number of interrogation records, media reports, and interviews with the parties and locals. She found that Brandon was not only the perfect lover in the eyes of a simple girl, but also used to stealing and embezzling credit cards, forging checks and imposting, these crimes were the culprits that led to his identity being revealed.
In order to find out what happened in Faos city, Pierce almost became a reporter who asked questions. To find out the answer, Pierce went to Faos city to conduct an unannounced visit. She met Brandon’s lover, Lana Disdell. , The latter opened up and told her about his inner struggles and his feelings for Brandon. Pierce also visited Lana's mother, local officials, parliamentarians, social workers, and teenagers who wandered through the night where the crime occurred. During the writing of the script, Pierce also learned from the classic American crime novels "The Executioner's Song", "In Cold Blood" and "The Killer Inside Me" (The Killer Inside Me), which studies murder psychology, and the American crime films "Scarface" , "Bonnie and "Clyde" , "Little Tiger" , "Crazy Holidays" , "Dog Day Afternoon" , "THE GOOD FELLAS" and "The Night Of The Hunter" draw creative inspiration.

Brandon: [voiceover] Dear Lana, By the time you read this, I'll be back home in Lincoln. I'm scared of what's ahead, but when I think of you I know I'll be able to go on. You were right. Memphis isn't far at all. I'll be making a trip out on the highway before too long. I'll be waiting for ya. Love always and forever, Brandon.
