After the film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival, the ambiguous plot handling of the film became the main issue for reporters at the press conference after the screening, but the director Hanneck insisted that he refused to explain. He believed that the audience is free and can understand it.
The plot design of the surveillance video at the beginning of the film from nowhere is almost exactly the same as the narrative theme of the 1997 film "The Lost Highway " by American director David Lynch . The theme also has similar places. But the styles of the two films are completely different.
At the end of the film, there is a fixed shot after the swimming pool where George's son practiced. Because all the people are scattered in various positions of the shot, it is difficult for the audience to focus on one spot. As for the meeting and conversation between George's son and Majid's son, this important plot is set in such a sloppy spatial distribution.
Hanneck once said that in the original script, a two-page line was prepared for the ending scene, allowing the characters to express their relationship. But in the end, the director thought that such an ending violated the purpose of the film, so he decided to replace it with an ending that couldn't be concluded.
"Caché" is the fourth French production by Austrian director Slappy .
