In 1910, in Maranhão, Brazil, Vasco bought a large desert in the distance. He hoped to live a life far away from civilized society and spend his life with the dunes. At Vasco's insistence, his pregnant wife Alia and Alia's mother Maria also had to relocate to the sparsely populated desert.
