Cool Hand Luke movie plot

He was sentenced to prison for only a few small things. Isolated and helpless, he was unwilling to accept the horror of the real environment, and only fought hard to resist.
Paul Newman's wonderful acting in this film will remain in the hearts of movie fans forever.
This film describes the story of the criminal Luke rebelling against authority. Luke was sentenced to two years in jail for wearing shackles for tearing down a parking meter while drunk. He is a cold-faced hero who has been regarded as a hero by prisoners during his stay in prison. When he received the news of his mother's death, he failed to escape from prison time after time, and was shot to death by guards. The "rope" that escaped with him was caught back to prison, and has since replaced Luke's heroic status among prisoners.

Prison themes can already become an independent genre film. I've watched 5 or so and never one has disappointed.

The first half talks about prison life (1. It takes two years for drunkenness to damage the parking meter? 2. The two paragraphs of men obsessed with car washing and Lucas eating 50 eggs in one hour; 3. Two big men Jumping rope together for me is very emotional and funny...), the second half of the interpretation of the escape story (the first escape is very happy, the second escape, two black boys can really cooperate...), the turning point is Lucas The mother passed away (I don't understand why he suddenly wanted to escape from prison...). In other words, the overall harmony and unity behind the inmates in this prison is as good as that of "Shawshank's Salvation."

Cool Hand Luke quotes

  • Luke: Anybody here? Hey, Old Man. You home tonight? Can You spare a minute. It's about time we had a little talk. I know I'm a pretty evil fellow... killed people in the war and got drunk... and chewed up municipal property and the like. I know I got no call to ask for much... but even so, You've got to admit You ain't dealt me no cards in a long time. It's beginning to look like You got things fixed so I can't never win out. Inside, outside, all of them... rules and regulations and bosses. You made me like I am. Now just where am I supposed to fit in? Old Man, I gotta tell You. I started out pretty strong and fast. But it's beginning to get to me. When does it end? What do You got in mind for me? What do I do now? Right. All right.

[Gets on knees, closes eyes and begins to pray]

Luke: . On my knees, asking.

[Peeks up with one eye, waits. Then opens eyes and crosses arms]

Luke: . Yeah, that's what I thought. I guess I'm pretty tough to deal with, huh? A hard case.

    [Clicks tongue]

Luke: . Yeah. I guess I gotta find my own way.

[Headlights shine through windows, backs up]

    Dragline: Luke?

Luke: [Shakes head and smiles] Is that Your answer, Old Man? I guess You're a hard case, too.

  • Captain: You run one time, you got yourself a set of chains. You run twice you got yourself two sets. You ain't gonna need no third set, 'cause you gonna get your mind right.
