BAU is a real department, its full name is "Behavioural Analysis Unit", it is the behavior analysis department of the FBI, and it used to be called the BSU behavioral science department. The creation of the overall structure of "Criminal Minds" originated from this department.
Gideon mentioned in the first episode that he had accurately judged that the "path killer" had a language barrier. The detail was adapted from a real event. The real BAU founder John Douglas (John Douglas) also accurately profiled the murderer stuttering in a 1980 case.
The murderer’s nickname in episode 4 "Tommy Killer" is derived from the rock musical "Break through the Dark Valley" ("English ) released in 1975 ; the murderer likes to use glue to keep the victim's eyes open, which is also derived from Yu the classic lyrics of the play: "Look at me, feel me, touch me".
The character Mike Zissou in episode 10 is a reference to the actor Steve Zissou played by Bill Murray in the movie "Life in the Water".
Episode 11 draws on the case of the famous vampire killer Richard Trenton Chase.
The "Manson family" mentioned in Episode 16 refers to the cult controlled by Charlie Manson, the murderer of the "Manson Murder", and the case was actually taken over by BAU to investigate and solve the case.
