In order to truly present the volcanoes and characters in the film, the main creators conducted extensive and in-depth research on the relevant background, and finally they decided to hire authoritative experts in the field of volcanology to assist in the filming. The creators have seen almost all the volcano literature, movies, documentaries and photos they can find. Director Donaldson even worked with volcanologists to study first-hand information about the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii and Mount St. Helens in Washington State.
The technical consultant of the film is the former US Geological Survey scientist John P. Lockwood (John P. Lockwood, formerly the leader and decision maker of the Pinatubo Volcano Expert Group) who is good at volcanic risk assessment and volcanic risk management. , David Harlow, a volcano and seismic geologist who has extensively studied the aftermath of natural disasters, and Norman McLeod, a volcanologist from the Cascade Volcano Observatory
