The film tells that in The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka , the civil war is almost over, and countless refugees are waiting to leave this war-torn land. In order to make it easier to apply for political asylum, a young woman Yalini, a former Tamil Tigers warrior Dipanand a 9-year-old orphaned little girl Yiyi. Leiapretends to be a family and starts a new life in the suburbs of Paris, France. Dupin found a job as an apartment manager in this impoverished suburb, Aline, who doesn't speak French, also worked as a housekeeper in a family, and "daughter" Elia went to a nearby school.
