The film's theme song ""was originally created for the film "Grandview, USA" in 1814, but was later used in this movie.
The scene of the practice by the lake was shot in Lake Lure, North Carolina. The reason why no close-ups of the characters appeared in this section of the film was because the weather in October was so cold that the actors had frozen lips with purple.
In this movie, Johnny and Frances wear opposite colors from beginning to end. Frances' clothes are always very bright colors, while Johnny is black or try other very dark colors.
The first film audition actor is playing Penny JohnsonCynthia Rhodes.
The time setting of the film was summer. During the filming of the scene where they were practicing by the lake, it was already October. The leaves were almost withered and the crew had to dye all the leaves in the background green.
The dance that Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray danced in the love scene is indeed the dance they danced when they auditioned for the film, which was not envisaged in the original script.
Jennifer Gray joined the film at the actual age of 27 years old, 10 years older than the role she played. During the audition, she spent five minutes to prove that she could perform younger and she was fully qualified for the role.
The film was re-released in 1997. The cause of this move was a petition by the host of the late-night talk show, who called on the audience to write to request a re-release of the film. In the end, the issuer complied with public opinion.
Director guest performance: Emile Adorino appears in this scene when Johnny walks into the kitchen to catch Penny.

Dirty Dancing quotes

  • Johnny: No, the-the way he saved her. I-I mean, I-I could never do anything like that. That was somethin'. I mean, the reason people treat me like I'm nothin' is because I'm nothin'.

Radio disc jockey: [on radio] Hi, everybody, this is your Cousin Brucie. Whoa! Our summer romances are in full bloom, and everybody, but everybody's in love. So cousins, here's a great song from The Four Seasons.

Baby: [voiceover] That was the summer of 1963 - when everybody called me Baby, and it didn't occur to me to mind. That was before President Kennedy was shot, before the Beatles came, when I couldn't wait to join the Peace Corps, and I thought I'd never find a guy as great as my dad. That was the summer we went to Kellerman's.
