Enough has been said about Von Trier personally; most of his works are clever tricks, entertainment for imaginary literate people who lack culture. Sontag once said that "Triumph of the Will" is art, Because it has no content; and because of the knife in the form, this film only has content and becomes non-art - what is the content that is as clear as the blue sky? A pleading, and some Nietzsche that will get it wrong; the form is so tedious that the audience is not so happy to watch the carnage at the end as we are happy to see that this lengthy viewing ordeal finally comes to an end Taking a step back, if a work of art can indeed have content, then we might as well focus on the question for which it gives a definitive answer: whether human beings are objects that can be represented, and the position to contend with "hypocrisy" should be "Pure evil"? Fortunately, the truth is the exact opposite of the film's conclusion.

Never try to test human nature. The evil of human nature cannot seek forgiveness for various reasons such as poverty, backwardness, selfishness, etc. These people who bully the weak and fear the hardship must be responsible for everything they do before they can be warned. ★★★★★

Tom: I think if Dogville had any significant symbolic meaning it wouldn't have an ordinary name like Dogville.

Grace: So I'm arrogant? I'm arrogant because I forgive people.
The Big Man: My God,can't you see how condescending you are when you say that? I mean you have-- you have this preconceived notion that nobody, listen-- that nobody can possibly attain the same high ethical standards as you, so you exonerate them. I cannot-- I cannot think of anything more arrogant than that.
