Edward Scissorhands The symbolic environment and the reflection of secular humanity

In this film, the director is quite original in his choice of environment, and consistent with his overall style is the unique and peculiar environment setting. The environment of the film is mainly composed of two locations: colorful communities and terrifying castles. The environment setting of a colorful community is the gaudy satire in Tim Burton's lens, and the castle where Edward lives in the film has a strong allegory. Under the guidance of the director, the audience's understanding of the castle and the small town is finally sublimated. The seemingly horrible castle symbolizes kindness, sincerity, beauty and purity; the seemingly warm and peaceful town symbolizes evil, turbulence, Hypocrisy and conspiracy. Through Edward’s experience, the castle and the town have a deeper symbolic connotation, that is, the originally closed and small castle world symbolizes freedom and unfetteredness, while the originally open and spacious town life symbolizes restraint and restriction.
