- Elizabethtown in the film is not a fictitious place name. This small town is located 45 miles south of Louisville. In the early days of the script, the director was attracted by the name and set it as the background of the film.
- Because the film was mainly shot in Kentucky, Bloom had to imitate the American dialect in addition to speaking with the "musical soul" in the film. Bloom deliberately toured Louisville and other cities in northern Kentucky until he learned the accent of the locals.
- Director Cameron’s madness has spread to many actors. Bloom and Dunst are the main "victims." Allegedly, the three people often bring walkmans to exchange music with each other before the start of shooting every day, and sometimes even postpone the shooting plan for this reason.
- Director Cameron Crowe is very picky about the film's soundtrack, and sometimes the list of selected tracks is longer than the script.
Elizabethtown behind the scenes gags
-
Drew Baylor: Beautiful night, does it ever cool off?
Jessie Baylor: No, this time of year its hotter than the hinges of hell, we got stars though...
-
Hollie Baylor: A few days after Mitch died I was walking through the yard and I saw our neighbor who was a very good friend of Mitch's, Bob, and he saw me coming through the gate, and he said, "I am so sorry for your loss." And I knew that he needed to feel that loss, too, and to share it, and I wanted to help him. And he put his arms around me, he cradled me, and his embrace tighted. Finally, here was somebody who truly cared. And then, I felt something else.
[audience starts laughing]
Hollie Baylor: Some-thing huge.
[the laughing gets harder, Drew and Heather look embarrassed]
Hollie Baylor: Let's just say it, let's just say it. A BONER!
