At first, Herzog hesitated to film the big ship crossing the rapids, but the starring Kinsky was very eager, and repeatedly urged the director to shoot such a scene. When the filming officially started, the crew had just set up the camera, and the 14 steel cables of the boat were broken under the huge momentum of the river, and the boat drifted into the rapids under the uncontrolled emotions. After repositioning the ship, they took shots of the ship continuously hitting the two cliffs downstream. The iron anchor pierced the hull, and the ship did not sink because of the protection of the steel inner layer and the air chamber. After shooting these, Herzog felt that it would be better to take another shot of the protagonist waking up on the ship and discovering that the ship was rushing past the rapids. So, after ten days of hard work, they pulled the second boat up and through the rapids. A total of seven people boarded the boat with three cameras. They used ropes to tie the photographer Jorge Vineas and the camera to the back wall of the steering wheel. Due to the huge momentum, Jorge Vineas broke a few ribs, and Bit Placer slammed into it. The camera on the deck bumped into a concussion, while Thomas Muchi was holding the camera and was knocked into flight.
