Goal! The Dream Begins quotes

  • [Roz the nurse is giving a physical examination]

    Santiago Munez: What's your name?

    Roz Harmison: Roz Harmison.

Santiago Munez: I- I mean your first name.

Roz Harmison: You don't need to know that.

[she goes over and puts on a pair of latex gloves]

Roz Harmison: You don't need to know where I live, or what my star sign is, or what I'm doing on a Saturday night. I'm going to have to take blood.

Santiago Munez: Oh, hey, really? I don't like needles.

Roz Harmison: Oh, but you have a tattoo or is that a transfer?

Santiago Munez: That was a gang thing.

Roz Harmison: You were in a gang?

Santiago Munez: Not anymore. There's only three ways to get out of a gang, either you get shot, you go to jail, or in my case you have a grandmother who will kick some sense into you.

[Roz pokes Santiago with the needle]

    Santiago Munez: Ow!

    Roz Harmison: Sorry, tough guy.

  • Glen Foy: Well, you're the new kid on the block, son. You've got something he never had - flair. Aye. because they don't believe they're risks. Put your coat down here. Three and in. You're in. All righty. They control the ball, the ball doesn't control them. Here. Look at this. Two jackets and a ball. It's all you need.

    Santiago Munez: Flair?

Glen Foy: You know, most players, myself included, they play within themselves. They play to their strengths so they don't expose their weaknesses. The great players, the ones with flair, they take risks, because they don't believe they're risks. They control the ball, the ball doesn't control them. The great players, the ones with flair, they take risks, because they don't believe they're risks.

    Santiago Munez: All righty.
