Good Night, and Good Luck. filming process

The film was shot with color film in a gray-and-white setting, and after post-processing, it became a pure black and white image. Many of Morrow's program lines in the film are taken from the lectures of the year, and the pictures of McCarthy in the film are all from the video at that time. The film uses features from the 1950s in the United States, such as smoking in the studio, partial haircuts, and popular jazz   . In order to achieve this, Clooney invited many prototypes of the characters in the play to the shooting site as a reference and proceed. Guidance, they have to ask these people what they are doing wrong or missing something every day; actors are also asked to watch many newspapers, movies and TV shows from the 1950s every day to figure out the way people talk and do things at the time   .
The film took 30 days to complete in the CBS studio. During the filming process, because of the fear that Clooney's spondylosis would cause the film to "miscarry", the insurance company that insured the film once tightened its policy. To reassure the insurance company, Clooney mortgaged his $7 million mansion   .

Good Night, and Good Luck. quotes

  • Colonel Anderson: Wouldn't you guess that the people who have seen the contents of that envelope might have a better idea of what makes someone a danger to his country, or do you think it should just be you, sir, who decides?

Fred Friendly: Who? Who? Who are these people, sir? Who are the people? Are they elected? Are they appointed? Is it you?

  • [last lines]

Edward R. Murrow: To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires and lights in a box. Good night, and good luck.
