At the end of the 17th century, the witch Jennifer and her father Daniel were burned to death on the stake by Puritan Jonathan Woolley. Jennifer cursed that he and his offspring would never be happy in love. The souls of Jennifer and her father were sealed in an oak tree. Centuries passed, and all the men in the Woolley family married shrews.
In 1942, a lightning bolt struck the oak tree, and the souls of Jennifer and Daniel escaped. Wallace Woolley, the descendant of the Woolley family, is running for governor, as well as the wedding to the pungent Estelle Masterson. Jennifer tried to seduce Wallace with magic, but Wallace didn't get it. At the same time Wallace's political career became difficult. Slowly Wallace faced his love for Jennifer. Jennifer used magic to make Wallace re-elect the governor and convince Wallace that his wife was a witch.
Jennifer's father Daniel was very angry because she exposed her nature to a mortal. He planned to deprive Jennifer of magic and imprison her forever in the oak tree. Jennifer returned to the state of soul. When Daniel and Jennifer watched Wallace mourn for Jennifer's lifeless body, Jennifer unexpectedly returned to his physical form, and then Jennifer locked his father in a bottle of rum and locked the key. A few years later, Wallace and Jennifer had two sons and a daughter, and the youngest daughter had a mother's magic very early   .

I Married a Witch quotes

  • Wallace Wooley: Now you listen to me, young lady. Come on. Get up.

Jennifer: [she stands] I'm listening, Mr. Wooley.

    [he stares at her]

Jennifer: Why do you look at me that way? Oh, my dress. Do you like it?

Wallace Wooley: I-I don't know. It's such a shock to see you dressed. I mean... you're beautiful.

Jennifer: Enough to make a man fall in love?

Wallace Wooley: Mere physical beauty isn't everything.

Jennifer: [disappointed] That's what I thought.

Wallace Wooley: [clears his throat] Look here, Jennifer.

Jennifer: I don't like the tone of your voice!

Wallace Wooley: Well, I swallowed some smoke last night.

  • First Prisoner: Hey, that's Wallace Wooley! Don't tell me they're tossing him in the clink.

Second Prisoner: Looks that way. Well, pay off, brother. They're not electing no con for governor. Bensinger is a cinch.

First Prisoner: [to Wooley] Ehh! Why wouldn't you keep straight until after you was elected like everybody else does!
