The story of the film is inspired by real people and facts, the time is 1943, and the location is the Nazi-occupied city of Lviv, located in Poland. Leopold Socha is a sewer worker, but when he is not working, he is also a careful thief.
One day, when he was at work, he ran into a group of Jews in the sewers who were going to escape underground, because on the ground, the Nazi SS had already begun the massacre of Jews. Socha saw this as a good opportunity to earn money. He charged every Jew a certain amount of "life insurance premium", and then took them every day in the labyrinth of sewers to start hiding their lives in Tibet. The Jews who stayed in the sewer escaped the catastrophe that happened on the ground one after another. As the situation deteriorated, this already very fragile maintenance broke and conflicted, and Leopold also began to lose control and grasp of the extremely tight state of the underground world. Because he could not bear such a huge pressure, he Choose to abandon them. Perhaps due to fate, Leopold still did not get rid of all this as he wanted, especially when he killed a German soldier in order to save Monte. Then, there was an accident in which two children got lost in the intricate underwater tunnel, and Leopold realized that there was no way to give up these people.
