Louder Than Bombs evaluation action

The film uses a variety of shooting techniques. These completely different expressions are intertwined but not strange, but there is a strange harmony of emotion and aesthetics. Director Joachim Trier used an unusual stream of consciousness technique in the film, using the messy memory of his youngest son Kondela and the fantasy fragments written about the death of his mother to assume the expression of the stream of consciousness. Adolescence is restless and unconstrained, with unique and energetic texts, coupled with images that are not processed by logic-reality and imagination, photos and videos, past and future, illogical but in one go, full of creativity.
Director Joachim Trier chose a stream of consciousness style for the film, using a lot of narration to advance the plot, plot replay, scenes without plot, special effects scenes, scenes that visualize the scenes imagined by the characters, etc. It's a pity that so many forms are piled up in the movie, and there is no way to hide the boringness of the plot. At the same time, the story of the movie is relatively boring, and the performance of the actors is relatively flat.
Despite the excellent actors in the film, the overall emotional expression is not satisfactory. Many scenes are very important to take out alone, but the film lacks an emotional center, so that there is not enough firepower to move people.

The way the director presents this story is very good, the memories and surreal scenes are not abrupt, and the narration is delicate and euphemistic, showing the estrangement and intimacy of the family. Life is not perfect, but the family will eventually drive into the future together. [B]

The way the movie tells the story makes me feel very bored and tortured: I can't stay still when I watch it, and I can't watch it when it's still... Well, it's all my fault~

Louder Than Bombs quotes

  • Conrad: There are days I'm invisible, I can do whatever I want. I must be careful not to lose that ability.

  • Conrad: Sometimes I wish there were two of me.
