Manderlay behind the scenes gags

"Manderlay" is the second part of Lars von Trier's "American Trilogy", and the other two are "Dogville" in 2003 and " Washington " in 2009 .

Nicole Mary Kidman, who played Grace in "Dogville", planned to continue to play "Manderlay", but had to give up due to a time conflict.

·The actor who played Dr. Hector in the film was originally John Christopher Reilly , but Reilly suddenly announced his withdrawal during the filming process. According to the US "Entertainment Weekly", it was the donkey that was killed in the film that prompted his decision to give up the show, but Rayleigh never mentioned this in public.

Since the film was shot in Sweden, the crew had to comply with local laws, but in Sweden, veterinarians were allowed to execute the animals, but in the end, the director cut off the plot to kill the donkey because of the protests of the animal protection organization.

Due to the content of the film, 9 out of the 12 actors who played slaves, 9 African-American actors withdrew from the crew.

During the production period, I learned that Danny Glover might be interested, so he flew to Salt Lake City to meet. After a long talk, Glover wanted to watch "Dogville", so the producer left him a portable DVD machine. At 6 o'clock the next morning, Glover called the producer and said that the DVD player was out of power at the end of the film. After the producer brought the charger to let him watch the end, Glover agreed to participate   .

The director has never set foot in the United States because of the fear of flying, but he believes that the American influence in Denmark is enough to make him claim to be 60% of Americans, so he is qualified to make films to criticize the United States   .
