Mary, a girl obsessed with ghost stories, wants to become a writer, following in the footsteps of her mother, feminist Mary Wallstonecraft, and her politically radical father William Godwin. Her father sent her to the home of William Baxter, his fellow Radical Party in Scotland. There, Mary found herself fascinated by a handsome young poet. This young poet is Percy Shelley who stopped by here. It was not until Shelley followed her back to London that Mary found out that Shelley was married. But she couldn't resist his attraction, and finally eloped with him. Although Shelley’s aristocratic father shut him out, they can only live in the dirty basement, but for Mary, it is good to be with the man she loves, but Shelley does not intend to love her only one person. Mary, who has experienced the death of her baby, can fully see the nature of Shelley's infidelity. It was at this time that she incorporated the sense of loneliness and abandonment into the story of Dr. Frankenstein's creation of weird creatures

Extended Reading
-
Mary Shelley: Next time you run off to read ghost stories, take me with you!
-
Claire Clairmont: Did you finish it?
Mary Shelley: Yes. It chilled me to the bone!
Claire Clairmont: It's good to enjoy a ghost story now and then.
Mary Shelley: We both know this is no ghost story. I've never read such a perfect encapsulation of what it feels to be abandoned. I seethed with your monster's rage. I lusted for his revenge. Because it was my own.
