"Ponyo on the Cliff" was screened on 481 screens in Japan, setting a record for the largest domestic film in Japanese film history. The box office results on the first day of the 19th (as of 3 pm on the same day) were 83% of the first day of "Spirited Away". The cumulative box office for the first two days of the show was about 1.05 billion yen, which was only "Hal's". "Moving Castle" accounted for 70% of the year's performance, but within three days of its release, the cumulative box office reached more than 1.5 billion yen. It has become the domestic film with the fastest box office exceeding 1.5 billion yen in 2008 in Japan. The film's box office exceeded 10 billion yen after 31 days of its release. In 2008, the film finally achieved a box office of 15.50 billion yen and an audience of approximately 12.87 million in Japan.
