"Pride and Prejudice and Zombies", if only from the public aesthetic point of view, the film is undoubtedly a nonsensical, collage-style cauldron. On the one hand, it retains the basic character relationship and story structure of the original novel. On the other hand, the irreconcilable conflict relationship between zombies and humans that the former wants to eat the latter’s brain and the latter to eliminate the former is also the reason. The basic contradiction of the film as a zombie film is simple and direct. In order to blend the two very different styles, the film also sets up a story background with a dark fairy tale texture. In the same movie, a variety of new stalks and old stalks appear alternately, so the audience sees the story swinging back and forth in the two worlds of small freshness and heavy taste, and sometimes seamless switching of Gothic style. The plot of such a mix and match is really weak in logic. Of course, the film cannot be a masterpiece in the general sense. In the pursuit of enlightenment, it may still be a failure and meaningless. However, from the perspective of the second-degree creation of existing works with the same personality, it cannot be denied that the works are actually very interesting.
"Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" is a work written and directed by Burr Steers. What impressed the audience the most was that he got at least the original half of "Pride and Prejudice" right, which is also the most important half.
