In 1888, the murder of at least several prostitutes occurred in the Whitechapel area of East London, which plunged the London of Victorian era into a cloud of fear. The code name of the murderer, Jack the Ripper, wrote many letters to the police station to provoke him during the crime, but he never fell into the legal net. Even more than 120 years later, this notorious serial killer still has a frightening influence, and his bold criminal methods have been repeatedly exaggerated by the media, causing panic in British society. The H Division of the London Police is tasked with calming the panic after Jack the Ripper's crime and bringing this elusive culprit to justice. Detectives in charge of the case, Edmond Reed (and Bennet Drake (, will fight side by side to find Jack the Ripper.

However, it is possible that Matthew is based on the nature of nympho and his preference for detective films, so he can watch it. Some people say that this film is better than Whitechapel because the latter is too depressing, but in fact, compared to RPJ's Whitechapel, Ripper Street is actually not easy. The style of the film is very realistic and does not make much of the magic of the characters. This is completely different from the detective Sherlock. We see more of the helplessness of the protagonist and sometimes even incompetence.
