8/10. Mike Lee’s focus is not on race relations but on class issues. There was a scene where his younger brother came up to mend the leak in the house, and his sister hugged him and cried out: The gap in status has caused family relationships to be divided and alienated from each other. In the closing shot, the black and white sisters stand side by side on the top platform and chat easily. The vertical and horizontal white columns separate the two. Lies can bring temporary integration between classes but cannot make up for the harm of solidification. The script's analysis of dissatisfaction with life is quite profound.

Cynthia: I only see her first thing in the morning. She comes in, grunts, then buggers off to work.
Maurice: You should be glad she's got a fella.
Cynthia: I am glad, Maurice. I want her to be happy. But I'd like her to bring him 'round, see who she's knocking about with.

Cynthia: Dad liked her, didn't he? Nice thighs.
