Beginning in the 1970s, the US government implemented a program called SETI, which used radio telescopes to scan the space continuously for 30 years, aiming to find alien creatures and related civilizations. In Dulwich City, Utah, there is a government-owned laboratory where a secret experiment is going on. Prior to this, humans had received information sent back by alien civilizations, including the DNA composition of alien organisms and the method of life recombination. Scientists at the Utah Laboratory used the information provided by the aliens to cultivate a new human "Searle" with alien DNA. For some reason, the government decided to suspend the experiment, but one of Searle escaped from the laboratory

Dan Smithson: Sexual competition.

Dr. Laura Baker: All right, maybe she rejected him. She probably has some special kind of senses. Rats can sense diseased or genetic damage in their potential mates, So we can test his body for any hereditary diseases, any defects that would have made him a loser, essentially.
Preston Lennox: Needles. Maybe he was some kind of a doper or a diabetic.
Dr. Laura Baker: Yeah. Well, either way would have made him unacceptable. Excuse me. All right. Insulin. Diabetic. There you have it.
Xavier Fitch: Well, she could have just walked out. Why did she have to kill him?
