One day in the late summer, in the kitchen of Yokoyama's home, mother Toshiko and daughter Chinami were busy washing and cutting vegetables. Father Gongping went out for a walk alone on crutches. Gongping is a medical practitioner. Although he has retired, his family still lives in a house connected to the hospital. He has always been concerned about the affairs of the clinic. Many second sons also came to their hometown with their wives and children. Many have not inherited his father's business. He is a painting restorer and is currently unemployed. The 10-year-old son, Xiao Dun, is not used to calling his stepfather and father not long after Yukari and Liangdo were married with a drag oil bottle. Yukari was quite nervous when seeing many parents for the first time. And many don't like that his father always compares himself with a good brother. He rarely goes home, but faces his parents with a dignified atmosphere. Fortunately, sister Chinami can talk, which makes the family laugh again. Today is the death day of Yokoyama's parents' son Junpei. Fifteen years ago, he died in order to save a drowning teenager. The saved boy has become a college student, and he has come to pay homage to the benefactor, but Kyoupei and Toshiko are cold. Shizhi's works are quite different from Ozu in form, but are very similar in content and atmosphere.
