In 1981, South Korea's Chun Doo-hwan military dictatorship detained and tortured university students and activists from the Busan area for violating the National Security Law and other reasons, which shocked the whole country and was called the "Helim Incident in Busan." The late former president of South Korea, Roh Moo-hyun, who was still an ordinary tax lawyer, was shocked and defended after contacting the victimized student, thus becoming a human rights lawyer.

Because he did not want his story to be regarded as a "presidential hymn", Woo-seok Yang decided to abandon this long-awaited plan. But the world is unpredictable. The sudden death of Roh Moo-hyun in 2009 brought this story back to Woo-seok Yang's agenda. And the final version of this story is about the "Busan Helin Incident" that once completely changed Roh Moo-hyun's life. In Woo-seok Yang's eyes, it was the most quintessential part of Roh Moo-hyun's life. Years. In 2011, Woo-seok Yang, who wanted to make this story into a webcomic, accidentally met Choi Jae-won, a representative of the withus film company, and the two hit it off, and the movie "The Attorney" was on the agenda. After Woo-seok Yang finished writing the script, he couldn't find the director and took the guide himself. Speaking of the original intention of creation, Woo-seok Yang said frankly, "The Attorney is not a documentary film. I don't want to arouse people's anger and hatred, but hope that the film will provide people with an opportunity for mutual understanding and introspection." .
