Anne in Amsterdam , the Netherlands, is a naive and lively Jewish girl. Under the care of her father and mother, she has been living a carefree life. On her 13th birthday, she received a precious gift from her father—a diary that she could not put down, and she developed the habit of writing a diary since then.
During the Second World War, in order to avoid the Nazis' persecution of Jews, Anne's family hid in the attic of her father's company with four other Jews under the cover of friends, and began to live in an incognito secret room. In August 1944, Annie and her family were arrested and sent to a concentration camp because the secret room was reported. In the face of various life and death, Annie's life fell into purgatory on earth. During this period of hiding in the secret room, Annie expressed the bitterness of growing up, the feelings of a girl, and her longing for the future through her diary.

A diary, a pen, writing light in the dark. Anne Frank, observes the world at war with the unique perspective of a cardamom young girl, and records the bits and pieces of hard life. Anne's innocence is in stark contrast to the brutality of Fascism. The 1959 version is the best version of the original adaptation. It is three hours long, and the film rhythm and dramatic tension are well grasped!

Funny and full of fun, pouring milk, giving gifts, first love, sad but not tragic, a classic among classics!

The Diary of Anne Frank quotes

  • Anne Frank: Our blessed radio. It gives us eyes and ears out into the world. We listen to the German station only for good music. And we listen to the BBC for hope.

  • Margot: Sometimes I wish the end would come, whatever it is.

    Mrs. Edith Frank: Margot!

Margot: Then at least we'd know where we were.

Mrs. Edith Frank: You should be ashamed of yourself, talking that way! Think how lucky we are, think of the thousands dying in the war every day, think of the people in concentration camps.

Anne Frank: What's the good of that? What's the good of thinking of misery when you're already miserable? That's stupid. We're young, Margot and Peter and I. You grown-ups have had your chance. Look at us. If we begin thinking of all the horror in the world, we're lost. We're trying to hold on to some kind of ideals, when everything - ideals, hope - everything is being destroyed. It isn't our fault the world is in such a mess. We weren't around when all this started.

Mrs. Edith Frank: [sternly interrupting] Now you listen to me...

Anne Frank: [resumes speaking] So don't try to take it out on us!
