The film is based on the real event "Chavo Cannibal Lion" that occurred in East Africa at the end of the 19th century. At that time, the British 123 was developing in the colony and planned to build a 580-mile railway. To this day, the story of The Ghost and The Darkness is still circulated across the African continent like a legend.
The film was filmed in South Africa. For this, 380 staff members spent more than four months of labor. Five lions were used to join the filming. They were from California, France and Canada, all of which were well-trained. And their outstanding performance in the film is believed to be obvious to all. The whole film lingers in an atmosphere of killing and horror, as if to lead the audience back to the original continent a hundred years ago, and personally experience the mystery and horror of the original African grasslands.
