In 1946, Juliet, a young and accomplished female writer, received a letter from Guernsey in the English Channel. It was written by a pig farmer who had never known Dawsey. The letter said: "I know you because I have an old book, Charles Lamb’s "Ilya Prose Collection", with your name and address on it. During the German occupation, there was not much to do here, Lamb The writing made me gimmick.” Because there is no bookstore in Guernsey, Dawsey asked Juliet to provide the address of the London bookstore. He wanted to buy another book, Shakespeare’s Tales by the same author. Juliet bought the book by herself and mailed it. As soon as she went back and forth, the two began to communicate. Juliet heard that the literary society there, the "Potato Skin Pie Club" had a peculiar story, and couldn't wait to head to Guernsey. In the process of close contact between Juliet and the members of the club, the story of Elizabeth, the founder of the club, gradually surfaced in the years of World War II
