"The Last Picture Show" is one of the most important films in the 1970s in the United States. The film tells the desolate scene of Nashville, Texas in the 1950s, depicting a dying landscape that belongs to the barren land of the west. The black-and-white photography of the film deeply conveys the meaning of that era, and the film can be regarded as a relatively outstanding representative work of director Peter Bogdanovich   .
The script of the film is excellent. The characters of different age groups and the characters of each character are used in the film to show the different backgrounds of the times. The director used black-and-white film to shoot, clearly portraying the nostalgia of the times, and also portraying some emotions vividly   .

    # Rhythm# has obvious rhythm rules in the use of audio-visual elements. First watch it with the sound turned on, and then watch it again with the sound turned off, and carefully appreciate the rhythm between the picture and the editing.

80 A sensual movie, much more interesting than "American Style Painting". The characters in the film have outstanding personalities, and the young actors are a bit young in their performances, but the actors over the middle-aged and older perform their respective characters very vividly. The film’s director skills are very good, but the narrative skills are relatively weak. It cannot escape the negligence in the narrative of the art film, the details are redundant or insufficient, the dramatic arrangement is not enough, and the emotional narrative is too loose.

The Last Picture Show quotes

  • Lois Farrow: Hey, there. Hi.

[long kiss on the lips with Abilene]

    Lois Farrow: Merry Christmas.

Abilene: This here is Jackie Lee French. Jackie Lee, this is Lois Farrow, my boss's wife.

    Lois Farrow: Hi Jackie.

Jackie Lee French: [to Abilene] What do you mean, kissing her like that?

    [to Lois]

Jackie Lee French: I ought to slap your face.

Lois Farrow: Well, why don't you just kiss my ass?

  • Jacy Farrow: It's too hot in here! Let's go outside. I don't want a lot of drunk hillbillies trompin' on my feet.
