The Mist Creative background

The story material on which the film is based comes from the novella of the same name written by Stephen King in 1984. However, when the novel was put on the big screen and was challenged by contemporary politics, Stephen King had no intention of creating political controversy. He believes that the story told in "The Mist" comes from the Vietnam War and various conflicts in that special period, and the part that may be questioned is precisely an indispensable and important element of the film.
The film is the third collaboration between Stephen King and Frank Darabont after "Shawshank's Redemption" and "Green Mile". In 2004, Paramount got the right to adapt the film and reached a cooperation agreement with Frank Darabont, and then Frankt began to adapt the script. In 2006, the production of the film was transferred to Dimeng Pictures and it was finally confirmed that Frank Darabont was the director, with Thomas Jain as the starring role. In January 2007, the other cast members of the film were basically determined, and then filming was started, and the film was finished shortly afterwards.
Frank Darabont said that no matter what, monsters are just a decoration of a story. The ultimate core is human nature and the environment of human existence.

Although some of the details are unbearable for me, the depth of this film is worthy of a serious taste. The ending is too black and humorous. I knew that if he rushed to commit suicide, he would be embarrassed. Can't you wait until the most critical moment to commit suicide?

It's normal to be controversial at the end. Humans just like to stand in teams, so the effect of irony is more realistic. It is often better to live better if you eat and wait for death. The cinema watch definitely added points, especially the applause from the audience halfway through. The sense of design is strong and sometimes it is deliberate, but the apocalyptic atmosphere rendered by rhythm is great. In fact, there is no need to explain things that don’t make sense. Isn’t it just fear of the unknown? The director’s most recent work will be a miracle in the green.

The Mist quotes

  • Norm: Let's rock.

  • David Drayton: [after Jim let Norm go to clear the genrator and the tentacles took Norm away] He's a fucking kid. He's supposed to be stupid. What's your excuse?
