- Truman’s sailing vessel was named "Santa Maria", which had the same name as a ship in the Columbus fleet.

- The TV show music producer next to the synthesizer in the film is the composer Philip Glass. The reality show soundtrack in the film uses some of his past works.

- The director also filmed many fake documentaries about the Truman Show, which were not used in the final version of the film. However, in some versions of the movie broadcast on planes, it was included for passengers to pass the time.
- People at the shooting site were forbidden to discuss the "stupid" movies made by Kim Carey.
- At the end of 1995, Kim Carey signed a starring role in the film, but because he had other contracts, he had no time for him for at least a year. Director Will thinks he is the ideal candidate to star in the film, and would rather wait hard than find another candidate.
