"The Unbearable Lightness of Being" is a masterpiece of art. The director Philip Kaufman uses a film to show the audience the opposition and unity of spirit and flesh, as well as the transposition and loss of lightness and weight. The film is a relatively successful work showing the theme of the original work. It not only grasps the essence of the novel, but also expounds the theme of the novel "The Unbearable Lightness of Life" in a film way. But in terms of detail processing and depth of performance, "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" still has a clear gap compared with the novel.  .
In "The Unbearable Lightness of Being", the audience saw a lot of historical footage, but compared with the real story footage, the director weakened and blurred the chaotic moment by separating the background from the protagonist's behavior. The footage of the film shifts quickly, which leaves the audience with a strong sense of vertigo both visually and perceptually. Despite the crowds and bursts of gunfire in the film, it does not constitute a direct visual impact for the audience. The special processing of the shots in the film makes the audience feel that the historical moment and the fate of the protagonist are two time and space separated. The same shot was taken at the end of the movie. When Thomas and Teresa drove the truck on a mountain road, the audience felt the tension between a certain destiny and an uncertain way of ending   .

About Philip Kaufman, I only know that "Love June Flowers" and "Quil" are also well-known erotic directors, although the erotica in his movies is not lewd. Haven't read Milan Kundera's novels, nothing to say. The highlight is the soundtrack! Soundtrack! Soundtrack!

Both the director and the actors are in the right state, especially Binoche's sober face, which is really heartwarming to look at. It's a pity that Kundera's discussion of "lightness and weight" can't be deduced. It may be a clever way to reduce the burden by making the film a "love in Prague".

Sabina: Don't you ever spend the night at the woman's place?

    Tomas: Never!

Sabina: What about when the woman's at your place?

Tomas: I tell her I have insomnia... anything. Besides, I have a very narrow bed.

Sabina: Are you afraid of women, Doctor?
