Nurture is greater than nurture. The family love is very well written. The chivalrous cook pirate, as a male elder (father's agent), has tried his best to teach the male protagonist a lot, just as the ending song says When I see myself I always know where you are.

Biochemical man + pirate + multi-masted sailing ship + treasure map → gorgeous pictures of wild horses. In fact, the pirate leader is the real captain. He teaches the male lord how to tie sailor knots, wash the deck, reef sails and even cut potatoes... Take his boy through the wind and waves, understand what is too late to be afraid; understand what is caught, and cannot give up; Understand that you cannot bargain with the future. Every boy should have his own captain to help them change from being a bear to a man.

Jim Hawkins: So, uh, how'd that happen anyway?
John Silver: You give up a few things, chasing a dream.
Jim Hawkins: Was it worth it?
John Silver: I'm hoping it is, Jimbo. I most surely am.

John Silver: Now you listen to me, James Hawkins. You got the makings of greatness in you, but you got to take the helm and chart your own course. Stick to it, no matter the squalls! And when the time comes you get the chance to really test the cut of your sails, and show what you're made of... well, I hope I'm there, catching some of the light coming off you that day.
