The film tells the screenwriter Dalton Trumbosince entering Hollywood in the 1930s, he has dedicated classic works such as "Roman Holiday", "Exodus", and "Spartacus". Behind the honor, Trumbo's career was very bumpy. He was persecuted by the Commission for Non-American Activitiesin the late 1940s , was fired by MGM in 1950, and went to jail. After he was released from prison, he was blacklisted by the government and was unable to work for a while. Trumbo borrowed the name of others to create the script. He once won the two best screenwriter figurines with "Roman Holiday" and "The Brave Man", but the author of the script at that time did not sign his name. It wasn't until 1960 that Trumbo walked out of persecution, and his screenwriting talent was able to see the light of day again.
